Why do I do art?

I have always done art as a form of self-expression. I have been using art as an outlet to express my feelings and emotions as well as using it to put out energy and to train my focus. I also believe that there is always room for improvement, and I believe that constant practice will allow me to improve and to work on my personal artistic voice.

Who am I?

I am Jay Betsill DuMont a young artist that explores many parts of being human and healing. I work with photography, ceramics sculpture, and creative writing. I make all of my art pieces by hand and mostly by myself with the occasional project that one of my peers help with. I also do acting and I am an avid writer. I mostly work with hand built ceramics but I also take part in throwing on a wheel.

I also do a lot of hiking and gardening among other things such as cooking and reading. I read a lot sometimes six or seven books a month. I do many hikes with my family in national parks. While taking part in these hikes I also sometimes do outdoor climbing on the various natural structures that are available to climb.
